Give the Insanity Workout Video a shot

Have you been thinking about trying the Insanity DVD Workout? This is a great 60 day program to get you into the shape you're looking for, but you need to know what you're getting in to.
The Insanity DVD workout, led by Shaun T, is hard. No other way to say it. They are fun, and they're pretty short. But they're hard.
What to Expect with Insanity Workouts
You're going to get these done in 30-60 minutes, depending on the workout. They're different than anything you've done before, and some of the movements are pretty advanced. Be prepared to struggle if you're not in great shape right now, but know that at the end of it you'll feel that it was worth it.
One of the first things I noticed was how much my legs burned during the workouts, and how sore they were the next day. I wasn't in terrible shape to begin with (but not the shape I am now!), so I was really surprised at how tough it was.
The Insanity workout is pretty leg-intensive. Your quads and calves will be burning with all of the plyometric work. The benefit of this is you'll not only get in shape, but be more athletic.
The movements translate into real world activities like sports, unlike working out on an eliptical or something. You'll be more explosive and quicker.
At the end of my first 60 days of Insanity DVD workouts, I noticed a lot of development in my legs. But I also noticed a lot of development in my abs. Its hard to say if the workout was so great for your abs, but the results were. With the drop in weight during the Insanity DVD workouts (I lost over 20 pounds), my abs were bound to look better. My core wasn't sore like my legs during the workout.
The Drawbacks of the Insanity DVD Workouts
The biggest shortcoming of the Insanity DVD Workout was the upper body workout. In a lot of the workouts, you are so tired from the plyometrics that you are a little weak for the upper body work.
I ended up adding in some extra upper body workouts during the 60 days, even though I was exhausted from the Insanity workouts.
Is it Worth It?
You'll lose weight with this program, you'll gain muscle (especially in your lower body), and you'll feel good. Shaun T is a great motivator on the DVD, talking you the whole way through.
The DVDs are pretty cheap, especially when you follow the program multiple times or, do what I have done and just pop them in occasionally for a workout. I've fired my gym membership back up, but for a while I didn't have one and it covered the cost of the DVDs.
Give the Insanity Workout Video a shot if you want to get in top notch shape in the next 60 days.
