Columbus discovered the New World in 1492 before,Indians are the indigenous people of the Americas. Therefore, their music and culture became the mainstream of American music culture.

Celebrate Indian Independence Indian pop music , often known as Indian-Pop, Hindi Pop, Indipop or Indi-pop, refers to pop music in India. Pop music really started in the South Asian region with the famous playback singer Ahmed Rushdi's song ‘Ko-Ko-Korina’ in 1966. It is based on an amalgamation of folk music and classical music with modern beats from different parts of the world.
Indian-Pop has made its way to the American charts, with singers like Rishi Rich (working with Britney Spears), Jay-Z (working with Panjabi MC), Anand Bhatt, Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and Truth Hurts. (A suit for copyright infringement of a Lata Mangeshkar song has been filed against Truth Hurts' song, "Addictive"). Indian-Pop entered American movies with the movie, Moulin Rouge!. Its main number, "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend (Hindi)", featured Alka Yagnik's song "Chamma Chamma" from the Indian movie, China Gate (1998).
Indian Dance music has four parts, Bhangra (music from the Punjab), Hindi & Hindi Remix (from Indian films), Indian Pop and lastly Fusion. Experience Indian music, from it's raw form of classical/religious to the current emergence of Indian Pop, Modern day, fusion & underground rhythms that currently are popular in clubs across Europe and U.S. DJ Samir will spin dance sounds from the Indian sub-continent including Pakistan, India and Sri-Lanka, including mixes of jungle, break beat, ambient and house.
