New rap album "Black Box Dreams 6," released today, December 24th on iTunes. Featuring 15 tracks, 14 of the listings are new songs. Unlike many music artists, the 'something like Hip Hop' performer, did not want to put any entertainment skits on the album. Chocolat - "I Like It"

Originally pushed as a “bi-racial” group, Chocolat are back with a fresh new look, and an upgraded, but still very much familiar, sound.
“I Like It” takes off from the group’s debut release, “Syndrome”, and presents an ever so slightly more mature sound. However, the song is still very much fun and youthful, and will still appeal to the group’s growing fanbase. The song gives off a club feel in the arrangement, instrumental, and even the melody, and although this sound tends to come off as generic for majority of the acts that take a shot at it, Chocolat have managed, in their own way, to make the song interesting and separate both the song, and themselves, from the pool of other rookie artists. 
Unlike other groups who are stuck in the confines of their limited talent and are forced to depend on only a few members, or on technology, in order to carry the group and deliver listenable material, Chocolat can do anything they want to. Sky’s the limit when you have talent, and this new single is solid proof of that.“I Like It” has all the makings of a standard pop song. Distinct synth loops, an infectious, catchy hook, and enough repetition to make it stick to listeners. However, the verses and especially the bridge, require very strong vocals. Even if “I Like It” is a club-influenced song, the chorus plays on the group’s ability to sing together. They have managed to put themselves out there, by taking a very simple yet familiar and definitely very appealing sound and using that to show off their vocals. The forever classic - Westlife


The boyband concept is designed to have different parts and roles. Filan, Feehily and McFadden (pre-departure) all took part on the main vocals while Byrne and Egan usually perform the backing vocals and very occasional solos in songs up to the recent date. Music and image
The band identify themselves as a pop band recording pop songs which comprises ballads and love songs. Westlife has been known for their teen pop songs during their early days with slow, mid, and uptempo songs. Albums known for teen pop sound are Westlife, Coast to Coast, World of Our Own and Turnaround. As the years progressed they tried different genres like jazz and big band in 2004 with Allow Us to Be Frank album and pop-rock in 2009 with their album Where We Are. As they also mature, they verge into adult contemporary being most evident on their cover album, The Love Album. Matured pop songs are also found on their LPs, Face to Face and Back Home, and Gravity. Filan answered when he was asked about the radical change in their music: "We’ve definitely changed – our music has evolved, but not drastically. Westlife is never going to drastically change, but I think we can get more exciting, different and more fun for the fans."

Every Westlife album have always been a mixture of genres. R&B genre is evident as a sound of the band since the start where their voices were harmonising and blending with each other. We can hear it on their songs "When I'm With You", "How to Break a Heart", and "Sound of a Broken Heart". Acoustic genre also took place as they have its versions with their songs "My Love", "Flying Without Wings", and "If I Let You Go". Club or electronic sounds were also heard from their remixes on each singles released. Dance music is also a genre of Westlife as heard on their songs "When You're Looking Like That", "Bad Girls", "World of Our Own", "Beautiful Tonight", "No One's Gonna Sleep Tonight", and "Uptown Girl". Live music has came to their way as they have officially released recorded live sounds such as "You Raise Me Up" (Live at Croke Park) and "To Be With You". They did country music too like their recording of "Daytime Friends, Nighttime Lovers". As a pop band they are also inspired to cover songs that were different and put into their own genre which is pop (With the likes of "Home" from jazz music, "I'm Already There" from country music).

During their starting days, the band's musical content was mostly about love and inspirational songs but as they grew older, they have given the chance to have the songs that were from an individual's everyday experience in life. As for their image, they publicly begun as boyband with wholesome and clean-cut image. Now, they call themselves a manband with a more broad and manly looking image as they grow older.

Perhaps Love




A Mainland director Nie Wen (Jacky Cheung) decides to make a film musical starring his Mainland girlfriend Sun Na (Zhou Xun) and Hong Kong actor Lin Jian-dong (Takeshi Kaneshiro). Unknown to him, Sun has met Lin before ten years ago when she was a cabaret singer in Beijing. The two had a relationship together then, when Lin was a film student. Ten years later, now a huge movie star, Sun refuses to acknowledge they have met before.

Nie plans his musical, which includes a plot where a girl loses her memory and comes to live with a circus troupe. Sun plays the amnesiac girl and Lin her former boyfriend who tries to revive her memories. As the shooting of the movie starts, reel life and real life overlap. Lin tries desperately to win back Sun's lost love, while Nie discovers their past romance. Nie himself plays the role of the obsessive circus owner in the musical, who is involved in a love triangle. Just like in real life, he has Lin as his rival.

Ji Jin-Hee plays Monty, a fantasy character who has a number of different roles in the movie (such as a noodle shop owner and a reporter).

The film is often compared to Moulin Rouge!, as it prominently features the device of a story within a story, which depicts a real-life love triangle between the actors themselves. Unlike Moulin Rouge! however, the musical numbers are limited to the inner show.

In an interview with the Malaysian newspaper The Star, director Peter Chan stressed that "Perhaps Love is a love story, not a musical. It's not even being promoted as a musical. It's not a musical in the conventional sense. My characters don’t break out into song. Initially, it was a challenge to balance the over-the-top element in musicals and the subtleties of a movie. In the end, the method I used to overcome that was to make a movie-within-a-movie." The interview appeared in the November 25, 2005 edition of The Star, as Peter Chan was in Kuala Lumpur to promote his film.

The film has also drawn comparisons to Bollywood, the Indian film industry famous for its musical films. The Hollywood Reporter described Perhaps Love as "Bollywood meets Bob Fosse." Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan choreographed the film, which featured nine Indian dancers who appeared in several musical numbers. The double-disc Region 3 editions of the film also contained a feature on the film's Bollywood dancers on the second disc.

Jewel

Jewel is an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actress, poet, painter, philanthropist and daughter to an Alaskan cowboy singer-songwriter.

Now in 2010, Jewel is maintaining her country roots as she returns to the format with her sophomore follow-up album,   Sweet and Wild. The album, written and produced by Jewel, will be released on June 11th. The first single, “Stay Here Forever,” has been embraced by critics and the video is a success on CMT and GAC.

“The theme of this album is finding what’s true about you and your life, and defending it and valuing it above all else,” said Jewel.  “My newest country album will share so many of my personal feelings of love and happiness that I have written into the songs,” said Jewel, who married her longtime boyfriend Ty Murray in the summer of 2008.  Jewel will also embark on a tour sponsored by Country Financial to support Sweet and Wild.
Also near and dear to Jewel’s heart is her charitable initiative, Project Cleanwater, which she continues to support, unwaveringly.  Jewel founded Project Clean Water in 1997. Having experienced homelessness as a teenager, Jewel became ill and couldn’t afford to buy the bottled water she needed for her sick kidneys.  She then realized it was difficult to obtain clean water in the United States, and discovered it was a huge problem globally.  She has been relentless in her efforts to bring safe water to those in need and create awareness of clean water shortages around the world.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The director of a Christian music tour on Tuesday gave an impassioned plea to a jury to spare the life of a Connecticut man convicted of killing a woman and her two daughters, saying the man is remorseful and will someday need to explain his actions to his own daughter.
Mark Middlebrooks testified Tuesday in the sentencing phase of Joshua Komisarjevsky that Komisarjevsky was an "outstanding" member of the group, which traveled the United States and Western Europe in 1997 when he was about 17. Komisarjevsky worked as a lighting technician for the group.
"Josh's life has value because I know who he is beneath all the circumstances," Middlebrooks said, adding Komisarjevsky has a responsibility to seek redemption.
Middlebrooks also said Komisarjevsky will need to answer to his 9-year-old daughter someday when she asks, "What the hell were you thinking?"
He addressed Komisarjevsky directly at that point, saying he'll need to take responsibility, as Komisarjevsky's attorney put his hand on his client's shoulder.
Komisarjevsky, 31, was convicted of killing Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters in their Cheshire home in 2007. He faces life in prison or the death penalty.
Prosecutor Gary Nicholson reminded Middlebrooks of the gruesome details of the crimes, in which the victims were tied up for eight hours and the girls doused in gasoline before their house was set on fire. Nicholson asked if Komisarjevsky's conviction on all counts had no effect on him.
"It does have an effect on me," he said, nearly shouting and his face red. "It has an effect on me. I resent that."

Middlebrooks traveled from Colorado to visit Komisarjevsky in prison after the crime.
"I'm here to advocate for Josh's life," he told the jury.
But he also said Komisarjevsky has "great culpability for what has happened."
"I'm aware of his remorse," he said.

Middlebrooks said Komisarjevsky, as a teenager, had been very good with his 3-year-old daughter during the two three-month tours.
Middlebrooks also recalled that Komisarjevsky was deeply affected when they visited a burn center in Trinidad and held the hand of a girl who was burned all over her body as she cried. That prompted Nicholson to remind the jury the two girls were killed in the house fire and that Komisarjevsky had been arrested before the tour for burning down a vacant garage.
He said Komisarjevsky was in legal trouble at the time he joined the group, called the Continentals. But Middlebrooks said he felt "compelled and burdened" to accept him for the tour, a decision he never regretted.
"He responded so well to me and my leadership," Middlebrooks said. "We developed a trust. I didn't have to worry about Josh."
Middlebrooks said Komisarjevsky told him about negative experiences he had earlier with Christian camps. He said he felt rejected by Christians because he was different or acted differently.
"He just felt somewhat discriminated against," he said.
Komisarjevsky's sister testified Tuesday that her parents didn't get counseling outside of church after he sexually abused her because they feared the state could break up the family.
The sister said her parents worried she or her brother could be removed from the home.
The sister told a jury Monday that Komisarjevsky sexually abused her as a child for years. Her name is being withheld by The Associated Press.
The defense says Komisarjevsky's religious family did not get him proper psychological treatment. His attorneys say he was sexually abused by a foster teen the family took into their home and later as a teen by someone else. Prosecutors say those claims came from Komisarjevsky and emerged years later when he faced prison time for 19 nighttime residential burglaries.
His sister said under cross-examination that she turned out successful even though she was raised in the same house and suffered sexual abuse as well.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. --
The director of a Christian music tour on Tuesday gave an impassioned plea to a jury to spare the life of a Connecticut man convicted of killing a woman and her two daughters, saying the man is remorseful and will someday need to explain his actions to his own daughter.
Mark Middlebrooks testified Tuesday in the sentencing phase of Joshua Komisarjevsky that Komisarjevsky was an "outstanding" member of the group, which traveled the United States and Western Europe in 1997 when he was about 17. Komisarjevsky worked as a lighting technician for the group.
"Josh's life has value because I know who he is beneath all the circumstances," Middlebrooks said, adding Komisarjevsky has a responsibility to seek redemption.
Middlebrooks also said Komisarjevsky will need to answer to his 9-year-old daughter someday when she asks, "What the hell were you thinking?"
He addressed Komisarjevsky directly at that point, saying he'll need to take responsibility, as Komisarjevsky's attorney put his hand on his client's shoulder.
Komisarjevsky, 31, was convicted of killing Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters in their Cheshire home in 2007. He faces life in prison or the death penalty.
Prosecutor Gary Nicholson reminded Middlebrooks of the gruesome details of the crimes, in which the victims were tied up for eight hours and the girls doused in gasoline before their house was set on fire. Nicholson asked if Komisarjevsky's conviction on all counts had no effect on him.
"It does have an effect on me," he said, nearly shouting and his face red. "It has an effect on me. I resent that."

Rising star Miranda Lambert reveals more facets to personality in new album, 'Four the Record'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Producer Frank Liddell compares most country music stars to drivers in Manhattan. They circle and circle until they find a parking spot, and once they find one, they never want to leave.
Miranda Lambert found a roomy space in the shade when she released the career-changing "Revolution" in 2009.
"A lot of times, that parking place will dictate an artist's entire career," Liddell said. "Miranda, with this last record, she had a pretty good parking place. And she just drove right out of it without thinking twice about it."
You can hear where she's headed on her new album, "Four the Record," out Tuesday. It's Lambert's follow-up to the album that won her universal critical praise, enough fans to ratchet her career to the headliner level and a bushel of trophies, including a Grammy.
All conditions were right for Lambert to deliver a new version of "Revolution," repeating the blend of sass and smarts and a little bit of tenderness that turned out to be such a combustible mix. But the 28-year-old delivered something very different. There's still a little bit of that blonde firebrand who set country music ablaze in "Four," Lambert's fourth album. But the overall picture the album leaves you with is a little more sombre and mature.
"I'm one of those fortunate few, few, few artists that get to do what I want to do, make the album I want to make, with nobody telling me what it should sound like or what songs I should cut, and the best part about it is, people actually buy it," Lambert said.
Most emerging country stars would have spent time building their brand after such a career leap. She and new husband Blake Shelton appeared on the cover of Us Weekly after their wedding, the peak of the carnival atmosphere that surrounded the two over the last 18 months. With Shelton's turn on "The Voice," their visibility had never been higher, and the opportunities never more lucrative.
Lambert did the unexpected, though. Instead of chasing tour sponsors and endorsement deals, she's turned down most offers. Instead of trying to recreate those hit songs from her last album, she sought new writing partners and even considered a higher than usual percentage of songs from outside writers.
She also formed a band on the side, Pistol Annies, something of a maverick move in a town where such things are considered wastes of energy at best and brand killers at worst. With no radio airplay and little marketing, Pistol Annies' debut album "Hell on Heels" hit No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart.
All of these things are unusual moves — and part of the plan that Lambert has put together with her manager, Marion Kraft.
"The interesting part about it is we think of expanding, not in a financial way, but we're thinking of expanding in a creative way where I feel like we are inspired by what we're doing and she gets better because she keeps re-inspiring herself," Kraft said. "That's how Pistol Annies came about, because we didn't fight it. ... The expansion that we are hoping will happen is that we broaden our fan base because we allow art to drive it rather than commerce."
It sure worked with the platinum-selling "Revolution." No. 1 songs like "White Liar" and "The House That Built Me" brought more fans into Lambert's camp and they fell for what they found. Those songs, Lambert said, were reflections of where she was when she recorded "Revolution," which won album of the year from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
"Four" finds Lambert somewhere a little different. She's grown up some, moving from young womanhood into maturity, and started a new life with her husband in Oklahoma. There's more humour here, probably thanks to the influence of the ever-funny Shelton, and more and deeper emotion.
There's still a little fuel for the fire on songs like "Fastest Girl in Town" and "Mama's Broken Heart." But from the first notes of opener "All Kinds of Kinds," a song about Horatio the Human Cannonball, the dog-faced boy and the three-ring circus that is life, "Four" little resembles her previous work. There's also "Over You," a song she wrote with Shelton about the death of his brother. And there's "Safe," which she wrote backstage while Shelton performed.
"I kind of felt that feeling come over me," Lambert said. "That's my fiance. That's going to be my husband. I'm going to keep him safe. I feel safe with him. So that's definitely some insight into my softer side."
Liddell, who has produced all of Lambert's albums, said she came to the studio this time with none of the nervousness she displayed in the recording of her previous albums. She would play the basic song for Liddell and her musicians, then turn the discussion over to the group.
"She just allows everything — courage and creativity and interesting musicianship — and doesn't get bogged down in little things, minutiae or what's expected of her, or the last hit on her last record," Liddell said. "None of that really comes in. If she feels it in her heart, she really starts pushing the buttons, and I think that's the most exceptional thing about her."

  During NAMM’s party-packed Saturday night, one of the top draws was Muriel Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night, featuring a cavalcade of talented guitarists including David Grissom, Lawrence Juber, Monte Montgomery and Muriel herself (check out our exclusive interviews with David Grissom, Rusty Cooley, Pete Anderson and Ladd Smith on page 66). However the real story lies in the organization benefiting from the show. The program, called the Music for Life Alliance, is largely funded by performances like the All Star Guitar Night, and its efforts put instruments in the hands of children across the country.
Muriel Anderson came up with the concept for the MFLA in 1998. After a series of thefts and break-ins in her neighborhood were attributed to drug-seeking youths, Muriel dug deeper and found only wealthy school districts in the area still had music education. “The root of the problem was that kids with emotional, spiritual and social needs found drugs much easier to come by than a guitar or a saxophone,” Muriel explains. “The self-actualization that playing an instrument provides can lift them up at a crucial time.”
She soon discovered there were already several organizations working individually on a local level, and her goal was to provide support and networking for these existing programs. “My vision was two-fold; first, I wanted to collect instruments for music programs in need, and second, I wanted to create a national database, giving grants and recognition to organizations making a difference in the lives of children through music.”
Ten years after Muriel’s original concept, the vision has come to fruition, with the help of dedicated volunteers (“I really couldn’t have done any of this by myself,” Muriel says). The MFLA hosts a database of 125 different national organizations that help further music education, and they work closely with groups across the country that collect and distribute instruments.
MFLA Secretary Treasurer John Wise says that each organization in the database is carefully evaluated. “We could just pull all of the 501s [charitable organizations] from the federal directory, but we research and have relationships with each one in the database.” He added that this is important because people who use the directory will know that each organization is completely legitimate and trustworthy.
The organizations range from Music for Lifetime Achievement, a St. Louis-based chapter of the MFLA that finds instruments and distributes them to children, to Guitars in the Classroom, a California program that helps teachers learn play guitar and how to incorporate the music into their own teaching. John estimates that Muriel comes up with about 50 percent of the organizations they help, finding many while on the road. In addition to helping organizations’ visibility, the MFLA also awards scholarships and grants to smaller organizations to help fund lessons, instrument repair and refurbishing.
MFLA’s most recent awardees are the Rachel Barton Foundation, which promotes awareness and appreciation of classical music; the W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School, which offers music lessons to children of low-income families; and the Riekes Center, a mentoring organization that has classes in athletic fitness and nature awareness in addition to the creative arts.
“Even though it may be just a small drop of water towards a great thirst in this country, I know it makes a difference to one kid somewhere whose life was turned around by music. That’s what is truly rewarding,” says Muriel.

Country music star’s personal struggle inspires fight for life

  
Country music star Collin Raye took up the mantle of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network in September and is using his personal story of loss to promote the sanctity of life.   The singer has 15 number one hits, 25 top ten songs and five country music nominations for Best Male Vocalist of the Year. He explained to The Daily Caller the mission of the Life & Hope Network.
“The ultimate goal is to work toward saving people until a day comes when something like [Terri’s case] never happens again,” Ray said. “But in the meantime it is happening on a day basis, every single day with people who are being denied food and water — and not on extraordinary means of life support.”
Terri Schiavo’s family started the organization after her death. The Florida woman died of starvation and dehydration in 2005 after her husband won a court battle to remove her feeding tube.
Raye’s cause is also a personal one. He watched his young granddaughter Haley die of an undiagnosed disease and, early on, he made the decision to keep his wife Connie on life support when she fell into a nine-week coma due to complications from the early birth of their son Jacob.
“Moral of the story is, nobody is going to tell me that in Terri’s case, or people like her, it’s a slam-dunk what their quality of life is going to be,” Raye said of his wife’s recovery. “You cannot determine that. It it not up to any other human being whether it be a medical panel or hospital panel or a doctor or a family member who just wants to move on.”
While The Life & Hope Network has been fighting for people who are in Terri’s condition, its work has attracted controversy.
In May, WTSP news in St. Petersburg, Fla. reported that Michael Schiavo threatened to sue the foundation for misusing Schaivo’s name.
The foundation’s funding picture has also become controversial. According to WTSP, the Life & Hope Network’s 2008 tax return showed that while it took in $91,568, the Schindler family retained 64 percent of the funds ($59,275).
The Schindler family’s attorney explained to WTSP that the high amount of money going to employee salaries is due to the relatively low funding level in general.
Raye, however, says standing up for life is central to what it means to be American.
“The preamble of the Declaration of Independence is ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.’ Everybody forgets about the ‘Life’ part,” he said. “There is a lot of concern with ‘the Pursuit of Happiness’ and plenty concern about ‘Liberty.’ There is not as much with life, and our Founding Fathers put that first, because without the the other two don’t mean much. ”
Raye says more than 1,000 families have sought out the organization’s help.

Lady Gaga to perform at Grammy nominations show in LA

Lady Gaga is to perform at next month's Grammy Award nominations show at LA's Nokia Theatre.
The US singer, who is also a possible contender for a prize, will sing live on stage on Wednesday 30 November.
Only a handful of the 78 categories will be announced at the event.
The Grammys take place in Los Angeles on Sunday 12 February and will again be hosted by LL Cool J, who fronted the show at the Staples Centre earlier this year.
The American Recording Academy has reduced the number of categories at next year's Grammys from 109 to 78.
It follows criticism that there were too many awards and that voting members had not heard of many of the artists nominated.
Many existing categories have been merged, while some have been dropped completely.
Top awards, such as best album, remain. While separate male and female vocal categories in fields like pop, R&B and country will now compete against each other.
Also, if a category attracts fewer than 25 entries, it will be removed that year and ditched completely if that happens for three years in a row.
Country trio Lady Antebellum won five awards at this year's Grammy Awards.
Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and John Legend all won three prizes.

At the end of last year, a friend in Sweden sent me a track by a Stockholm-based band, Niki & the Dove. It quickly became my most played track because, quite frankly, it's incredible.

This year I've managed to see them a couple of times and their output just gets better and better. Imagine what would happen if Kate Bush and The Knife had a love child: this is pretty darn close.

I'm always happy to find new music, however this song seems to be from February or so, but I discovered it this week. Peacebird is a Swedish artist who … seems to be a bit similar to John Lennon.

This song that I really love has some kind of anti-commercialism AND democracy theme, thinking about the Wall Street protests it's quite perfect. I love the lyrics and chorus of this song. And those strange instruments in the end just come out of nowhere but brings it all together incredibly beautifully.

Sade

Born Helen Folasade Adu on January 16, 1959, in Ibadan, Nigeria, Sade was raised in London. In the early 1908s, she singed with Epic Records and recorded her first album, Diamond Life, in 1984.


A huge hit thanks to such singles as 'Smooth Operator,' the album won Sade a Best New Artist Grammy, and her subsequent multi-platinum albums established Sade as a top-selling soul and pop artist.

The record, and particularly the chart-topping single, "By Your Side," helped her win over new audiences. Two years later, the album and ensuing tour inspired her first live recording, Lovers Live. Sade returned to the studio and released her sixth album In February 2010, Soldier of Love.

Sade married Spanish filmmaker Carlos Scola in 1989; the couple divorced three years later.

In 1996, she and Jamaican record producer Bobby Morgan had a daughter, Ila Morgan.

Singer Carrie Underwood

Singer Carrie Underwood returned to her home city of Checotah, Oklahoma on Friday to help build a school playground.

The country music star joined more than 200 volunteers, including her mother Carole, at Marshall Elementary School for the project by her Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation, which she set up in 2009 to help the local community.
Underwood showed off her creative side by painting a mural at the school, as well as planting vegetation and helping with the playground assembly.
She says, "We had the most amazing day putting together something truly special for the kids and the community. I'm so proud that so many volunteered their time to be here today."

At only 28, Carrie Underwood is not literally old. But Carrie Underwood told the website for the Oklahoman newspaper that she felt old. She was heading to her alma mater Northeastern State University on Saturday (Oct. 15) to receive a distinguished alumnus honor.

"I'm gonna feel so stinkin' old. I just know I am. It doesn't feel like college is that far away, but I guess it was," Underwood said.

Then again, this was right after she'd spent the day building a new playground at the Marshall Elementary School in her hometown of Checotah. "I painted, I mulched, I shoveled. My legs hurt. I'm not gonna lie. When this (shirt) says, 'I earned this backache,' it's not lying. I'm probably gonna have one," she said of her day at work.

Underwood was very hands-on and definitely not the kind of celebrity who just writes a check and then gets in her limo to go home. She really built that playground. "You see the schedule, and you're like, 'Yeah, right, we're not gonna build an entire playground from 8:30 in the morning to 2:30 in the afternoon. Not gonna happen.' But it totally did.

 We had time to spare," she said. We’re giving credit to Justin Bieber today. He’s been caught up in a bit of a mess after being accused of slapping a hand away from a fan in Canada. He was playing laser-tag there and someone just wanted a piece of the Bieber. Turns out, that someone was gay, and now they’re bashing Bieber for being homophobic. I am so proud of Carrie for who she is and what she stands for. I live about 1hr and 20 minutes from her hometown. She is really loved here in Oklahoma, as she should be. She has given back so much to her hometown, not to mention this article proves what kind of person she really is. She wanted to get in there and do the work. She didn't want to just donate the money.

This fullfilled her dreams for her elementary school. It showed an interview of Carrie and one of the little 1st graders and it was so cute. He didn't have a clue who she was, but he was hugging her and kissing her and saying thank you so.....much. Now we can play hard!!

She got so much out of that. You could see the tears welling up in her eyes, just to know how happy she had made those children. Carrie, is an exceptional person. She has never been afraid to show her faith in the Lord, and give Him all of the praise. It takes a very special person to be like our Carrie. Thank you for the article. Loved reading all of the great comments. Carrie is the real deal. Faith, Family, and Career in that order is what I see. I think she is doing everything right!!!

Well we think that’s just ridiculous, and we’re not alone. Bieber is getting ready this week to take a stand against bullying in general. Not just bashing on gay people, but the kind of bullying that’s been around for ages. Numerous celebrities have released videos combating bullying in schools and public places and now Justin Bieber will do the same.

American Idol winner and country superstar Carrie Underwood and her fiance, hockey player Mike Fisher, has set a wedding date. The singer said on The Ellen Degeneres show that the date has been set but it’s being kept a secret.

The singer went on to describe the wedding as being “laid back,” and she revealed that the venue and type of food has already been picked. But everything else is still a work in progress.

“Everybody would always ask me questions like, ‘What have you always dreamt of? This is your day,’” Carrie said. “I never thought about it until I was engaged. I wasn’t one of those little girls that always dreamed about getting married. So I have no idea what I’m doing, basically!”

But her biggest hurdle? Keeping the wedding small.

“We’re trying to keep it as small as possible,” she says. “He has so many family members and all my friends are people that I work with and I love to death, so…”

Carrie and Mike had a Christmas proposal late last year. Although the two have not revealed details about their proposal, Mike had said he was “excited and very happy.”

Nirvana Band

Prior to Nirvana, alternative music was consigned to specialty sections of record stores, and major labels considered it to be, at the very most, a tax write-off.
They covered Vaselines songs, they revived new wave cuts by Devo, and leader Kurt Cobain relentlessly pushed his favorite bands -- whether it was the art punk of the Raincoats or the country-fried hardcore of the Meat Puppets -- as if his favorite records were always more important than his own music. While Nirvana's ideology was indie rock and their melodies were pop, the sonic rush of their records and live shows merged the post-industrial white noise with heavy metal grind. And that's what made the group an unprecedented multi-platinum sensation.

After the band's second album, 1991's Nevermind, nothing was ever quite the same, for better and for worse. Nirvana popularized punk, post-punk, and indie rock, unintentionally bringing it into the American mainstream like no other band to date. While their sound was equal parts Black Sabbath (as learned by fellow Washington underground rockers the Melvins) and Cheap Trick, Nirvana's aesthetics were strictly indie rock.
Since Nirvana was rooted in the indie aesthetic but loved pop music, they fought their stardom while courting it, becoming some of the most notorious anti-rock stars in history. The result was a conscious attempt to shed their audience with the abrasive In Utero, which only partially fulfilled the band's goal. Jane's Addiction and Soundgarden may have proven to the vast American heavy metal audience that alternative could rock, and the Pixies may have merged pop sensibilities with indie rock white noise, but Nirvana pulled at all together, creating a sound that was both fiery and melodic.
But by that point, the fate of the band and Kurt Cobain had been sealed. Suffering from drug addiction and manic depression, Cobain had become destructive and suicidal, though his management and label were able to hide the extent of his problems from the public until April 8, 1994, when he was found dead of a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Cobain may not have been able to weather Nirvana's success, but the band's legacy stands as one of the most influential in rock & roll history.
Kurt Cobain (vocals, guitar) met Chris Novoselic (born Krist Novoselic) (bass) in 1985 in Aberdeen, WA, a small logging town 100 miles away from Seattle. While Novoselic came from a relatively stable background, Cobain's childhood had been thrown into turmoil when his parents divorced when he was eight.
Following the divorce, he lived at the homes of various relatives, developing a love for the Beatles and then heavy metal in the process. Eventually, American hardcore punk worked its way into dominating his listening habits and he met the Melvins, an Olympia-based underground heavy punk band. Cobain began playing in punk bands like Fecal Matter, often with the Melvins' bassist Dale Crover.
Through the Melvins' leader Buzz Osborne, Cobain met Novoselic, who also had an intense interest in punk, which meant that he, like Cobain, felt alienated from the macho, redneck population of Aberdeen. The duo decided to form a band called the Stiff Woodies, with Cobain on drums, Novoselic on bass, and a rotating cast of guitarists and vocalists. The group went through name changes as quickly as guitarists, before deciding that Cobain would play guitar and sing.
Renamed Skid Row, the new trio featured drummer Aaron Burkhart, who left the band by the end of 1986 and was replaced by Chad Channing. By 1987, the band was called Nirvana.

Nirvana began playing parties in Olympia, gaining a cult following. During 1987, the band made ten demos with producer Jack Endino, who played the recordings to Jonathan Poneman, one of the founders of the Seattle-based indie label Sub Pop. Poneman signed Nirvana, and in December of 1988, the band released their first single, a cover of Shocking Blue's "Love Buzz." Sub Pop orchestrated an effective marketing scheme, which painted the band as backwoods, logging-town hicks, which irritated Cobain and Novoselic. While "Love Buzz" was fairly well-received, the band's debut album, Bleach, was what began the ball rolling.
Recorded for just over 600 dollars and released in the spring of 1989, Bleach slowly became a hit on college radio, due to the group's consistent touring. Though Jason Everman was credited as a second guitarist on the sleeve of Bleach, he didn't appear on the record; he only toured in support of the album before leaving the band at the end of the year to join Soundgarden and then Mindfunk. Bleach sold 35,000 copies and Nirvana became favorites of college radio, the British weekly music press, and Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, and Dinosaur Jr., which was enough to attract the attention of major labels.
During the summer, Nirvana released "Sliver"/"Dive," which was recorded with Mudhoney's Dan Peters on drums and produced by Butch Vig. The band also made a six-song demo with Vig, which was shopped to major labels, who soon began competing to sign the group.
By the end of the summer, Dave Grohl, formerly of the D.C.-based hardcore band Scream, had become Nirvana's drummer and the band signed with DGC for $287,000. Nirvana recorded their second album with Vig, completing the record in the summer. Following a European tour supporting Sonic Youth in the late summer, Nevermind was released in September, supported by a quick American tour. While DGC was expecting a moderately successful release, in the neighborhood of 100,000 copies, Nevermind immediately became a smash hit, quickly selling out its initial shipment of 50,000 copies and creating a shortage across America.
What helped the record become a success was "Smells Like Teen Spirit," a blistering four-chord rocker that was accompanied by a video that shot into heavy MTV rotation. By the beginning of 1992, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" had climbed into the American Top Ten and Nevermind bumped Michael Jackson's much-touted comeback album Dangerous off the top of the album charts; it reached the British Top Ten shortly afterward. By February, the album had been certified triple platinum.
Nirvana's success took the music industry by surprise, Nirvana included. It soon become apparent that the band wasn't quite sure how to handle their success. Around the time of Nevermind's release, the band was into baiting their audience -- Cobain appeared on MTV's Headbanger's Ball in drag, the group mocked the tradition of miming on the BBC's Top of the Pops by Novoselic constantly throwing his bass into the air and Cobain singing his live vocals in the style of Ian Curtis, and their traditional live destruction of instruments was immortalized on a Saturday Night Live performance that ended with Novoselic and Grohl sharing a kiss -- but by the spring, questions had begun to arise about the band's stability.
Cobain married Courtney Love, the leader of the indie rock/foxcore band Hole, in February of 1992, announcing that the couple was expecting a child in the fall. Shortly after the marriage, rumors that the couple were heavy heroin users began to circulate and the strength of the rumors only increased when Nirvana canceled several summer concerts and refused to mount a full-scale American tour during the summer. Cobain complained that he was suffering from chronic stomach troubles, which seemed to be confirmed when he was admitted to a Belfast hospital after a June concert.
But, heroin rumors continued to surface, especially in the form of a late-summer Vanity Fair article which implied that Love was using during her pregnancy. Both Love and Cobain denied the article's allegations, and publicly harassed and threatened the article's author.
Love delivered Frances Bean Cobain, a healthy baby girl, on August 18, 1992, but the couple soon battled with Los Angeles' children's services, who claimed they were unfit parents on the basis of the Vanity Fair article. The couple was granted custody of their child by the beginning of 1993.
Since Cobain was going through such well-documented personal problems, Nirvana was unable to record a follow-up to Nevermind until the spring of 1993. In the meantime, DGC released the odds-and-ends compilation Incesticide late in 1992; the album reached number 39 in the U.S. and number 14 U.K. As the group prepared to make their third album, they released "Oh, the Guilt" as a split-single with the Jesus Lizard on Touch & Go Records. Choosing Steve Albini (Pixies, the Breeders, Big Black, the Jesus Lizard) as their producer, Nirvana recorded their third album, In Utero, in two weeks during the spring of 1993. Following its completion, controversy began to surround Nirvana again.
Cobain suffered a heroin overdose on May 2, but the event was hidden from the press. The following month, Love called police to their Seattle home after Cobain locked himself in the bathroom, threatening suicide. Prior to debuting In Utero material during the New Music Seminar at New York's Roseland Ballroom in July, Cobain had another covered-up overdose. By that time, reports began to circulate, including an article in Newsweek, that DGC was unhappy with the forthcoming album, accusing that the band deliberately made an uncommercial record. Both the band and the label denied such allegations. Deciding that Albini's production was too flat, Nirvana decided to remaster the album with R.E.M.'s producer, Scott Litt.
In Utero was released in September of 1993 to positive reviews and strong initial sales, debuting at the top of the U.S. and U.K. charts. Nirvana supported it with a fall American tour, hiring former Germs member Pat Smear as an auxiliary guitarist. While the album and the tour were both successful, sales weren't quite as strong as expected, with several shows not selling out until the week of the concert. As a result, the group agreed to play MTV's acoustic Unplugged show at the end of the year, and sales of In Utero picked up after its December airing. After wrapping up the U.S. tour on January 8, 1994, with a show at Center Arena in Seattle, Nirvana embarked on a European tour in February. Following a concert in Munich on February 29, Cobain stayed in Rome to vacation with Love. On March 4, she awakened to find that Cobain had attempted suicide by overdosing on the tranquilizer Rohypnol and drinking champagne. While the attempt was initially reported as an accidental overdose, it was known within the Nirvana camp that the vocalist had left behind a suicide note.
In 1996, its electric counterpart, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, was released, debuting at the top of the U.S. charts. Following Cobain's death, Grohl formed the Foo Fighters (early rumors that Novoselic would also be a member of the band ultimately proved to be false) -- releasing their self-titled debut album in 1995, followed by The Colour and the Shape in 1997 and There Is Nothing Left to Lose in 1999. Novoselic formed the trio Sweet 75, releasing their debut in the spring of 1997, and also appeared along with former Dead Kennedys' frontman Jello Biafra and former Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil on the 2000 live set Live From the Battle in Seattle under the name the No W.T.O. Combo.
Cobain returned to Seattle within a week of his hospitalization and his mental illness began to grow. On March 18, the police had to again talk the singer out of suicide after he locked himself in a room threatening to kill himself. Love and Nirvana's management organized an intervention program that resulted in Cobain's admission to the Exodus Recovery Center in L.A. on March 30, but he escaped from the clinic on April 1, returning to Seattle. His mother filed a missing persons report on April 4. The following day, Cobain shot himself in the head at his Seattle home. His body wasn't discovered until April 8, when an electrician contracted to install an alarm system at the Cobain house stumbled upon the body. After his death, Kurt Cobain was quickly anointed as a spokesman for Generation X, as well as a symbol of its tortured angst.
Novoselic and Grohl planned to release a double-disc live album at the end of 1994, but sorting through the tapes proved to be too painful, so MTV Unplugged in New York appeared in its place. The album debuted at the top of the British and American charts, as a home video comprised of live performances and interviews from the band's Nevermind-era, titled Live! Tonight! Sold Out!, was issued at the same time (the project began prior to Cobain's passing and was completed by surviving bandmembers).
By the late '90s, research began by Novoselic for a proposed box set of previously unreleased songs from throughout Nirvana's career. The project was supposed to surface in the fall of 2001 (to coincide with the tenth anniversary release of Nevermind), but legal problems began to surface.
In 1997, Grohl and Novoselic formed the Nirvana L.L.C. partnership with Courtney Love (who manages Cobain's estate) -- a company that required a unanimous vote by all three regarding future albums, photos, and anything else Nirvana-related. When all three couldn't agree on the songs to be included on the box set, the matter was taken to court as Love attempted to dissolve the partnership. The project was ultimately shelved indefinitely as any legal decision was tied up in court.
